Exclusive Interview with Nakatani, What Pokemon are coming next?
Nakatani is in charge of planning and development of Bandai’s Pokemon Shokugan, such as the “Pokemon Scale World” for about five years. Her main focus is to ensure the replication and the correct ratio for the Figurines.
Why Scale World?
The Pokemon Scale World figures were made to target adults in there early 20s to early 30s who liked Pokemon as children and could reminisce. Well they hit that on the head didn’t they, I have them all, haha.
Why 1:20 scale?
Nakatani made the first prototypes in various sizes, depending on the trainer or size of the Pokemon. The ideal size was so it could be sold at a convenience store and was also not to expensive as they’re were so many figures. In result the ratio 1:20 seemed to be the ideal size being able to reference the size with nearly anything like a piece of paper.
What has been the hardest?
Nakatani had started product on one of the largest Pokemon in the series, ‘Wailord’. Once the initial size was there she had realised not only was it too large for the normal collector it would also be more than double the ideal selling price. Product on the Wailord has been put on hold till further notice.
Lets have a look at how big this bad boy is!
How amazing is that! Nakatani was also nice enough to show us what else is has in the prototype stage. We have some favourites so get ready.
These guys are still far away from being available for pre-order. At the moment I think we are still having a few more release’s of Pokemon from the Galar Region.
As soon as I have any updates, I’ll let you know 🙂
